Ion Fosse is one of the top of the day and popular contemporary dramatists in the last 10 years. He e is an extremely strange and incredibly emotional story-teller that at first look seem very simple and real but built in an extraordinary manner. In an interview with Caridad Svish he says about the truth in the theatre: „Do you know the story about the fish that knew nothing about the ocean? I left my home when I was 16... ...in my plays the people never express directly their feelings, but the truth is that they feel violent emotions that come out with other words... ... they never say what they want to say or feel, they say something else. The conversation is on at least two levels... ... what we say is a very small part from what is really happening. For me it is obvious. And, I think, that in my plays it is impossible to tell through words the most important things. And if I succeed to write it down well, I can tell what is impossible to be said with words – it is said in silence, pauses and interruptions... If you do not trust the director, the actors, I think it is impossible to be a dramatist. I write plays and other people make theatre from them. And all we are in the hands of Someone else. The theatre. Like in life... “
